Today,
staphylococci and streptococci would be the most likely organisms
to be encountered in normal individuals. Occasionally, enteric
or anaerobic organisms are the cause of bacterial superinfection
of vaccinations.
The use of occlusive dressings, especially those tightly bound
to the skin, may result in increased maceration of the skin.
Occlusive dressings may also lead to more frequent occurrence
of infection, the possibility of anaerobic infection, and
more serious disease.
