Congenital
vaccinia is infection of the fetus in the last trimester with
evidence of disease in the newborn infant.
No proven instance of congenital abnormalities has been attributed
to vaccination during any stage of pregnancy. Some have postulated
that vaccination in the first trimester results in some fetal
loss but this has not been substantiated.
